The bit about the actual fruitcake getting shellacked for real reminds me of a set of Royal Whims from the Eastrealm back before AEthelmearc went kingdom... One Majesty's whims included "Fruit is the best dessert." The other Majesty's whims included "Fruit is a garnish best served Shellacked."
