I've been meaning to pick up a new calendar for 5762, but I haven't yet. Pinsker's usually closes at 6, which is before I'm in Sq Hill most days, but today I noticed that it was 5:50 when I hit Beacon & Murray so I figured I'd stop. I was just getting out of the car when I remembered that it was the second day of Sukkot, so they'd be closed. Duh! (As you can probably tell, I don't agree with the ruling that we have to add an extra day to holidays outside of Israel. It made sense once, but it's 2001 and we know precisely when the new moon occurs, and thus when the new month starts, and thus exactly when the holidays are.)

Heh. I'm still amused by the concept that I got a new year's card from a couple of friends this year who wrote the date wrong as '5760'. *snort*

Well, was 5760 a good year for you? It's always easier to do these things with hind-sight, after all. :-)

It was okay, but 5761 really kicked butt. I wouldn't have traded 5760 for 5761 even if you offered me the world.

5760 and 5761 were both pretty good years for me, in different ways. In 5760 I got married (that's the biggie), and I also got to chant torah for the first (and so far only) time. In 5761 I got a kick-ass job as a result of a layoff (so I'm much better off now than I was), and I also got to do some cool things with my synagogue. Also in 5761, some work-based friendships really started to take off; I'm so happy to now have social (not just work) relationships with Ralph and Mike (and occasionally Laura). This is definitely cool.

That sounds perfectly reasonable and excellent.

I, however, started dating Karen again in 5761. 5760 sucked. Not dating Karen sucks big time. There were other cool things in 5760, but none others worth as much to me as Karen.

Yeah, reunions are cool. Dani and I got back together in 5759, which was one of several things that made that a good year for me.
