more pictures of the frozen fountain
Yesterday was sunny and the water was flowing over the ice.

pictures
Snow and ice can make for some nifty photos. I'm not very practiced at taking those nifty photos yet, but the fountain outside my office motivated me to try. They haven't turned it off; yesterday it was covered in icicles with flowing water, but by this morning it was all plugged up.
( and one by night )
photos
I've seen several people doing this and enjoyed seeing the results, so let's see what happens:
Ask me to photograph something (around where I live/work, or somewhere I can get to easily) ... it could be just about anything, but I reserve the right to "interpret" your request if it makes for a better photo or is vaguely amusing to me. :-) No guarantee for how quickly I'll get around to your request, but I'll see what I can do (and I also reserve the right to use a photograph I've already taken if it fits your theme/request).

pet-sitting
Last week I pet-sat for a friend who had once commented that she didn't have any digital pictures of her pets. As long as I had access to the pets and a camera anyway...

And finally, one of Baldur, who was quite put out by Spud's visit but kept it down to growls and not physical engagement. (Perhaps that growl was "I could put you in your place, but that would be way too much effort".)sweets!
Every fall
browngirl sends excellent fruitcakes -- yummy and beautifully decorated -- to some of her friends. She makes a bunch of different types and this year I knew she would be sending me a sampler. I figured that meant, oh, two or three random mini-fruitcakes, probably.
Today's mail brought a package. As I cut open the box I took in the lovely aroma, and when I got the paper off I saw three little fruitcakes. This seemed generous -- and then I saw that there was a second layer. Ooh.
Some of the icing qua art was damaged on its way to me, alas, but here, let me show you:

I'm looking forward to tasting them, but I don't want to cut into them just yet.
Thank you,
browngirl!

togetherness
This degree of togetherness is pretty unusual:
( two pictures )
Erik and Baldur always stand while eating, while Embla always sits. (This feels like the beginning of a logic puzzle: standers always lie, and... no, never mind.) I wonder why that is. Is it a gender thing? An individual-cat thing? Random but consistent for a given cat? Usually random and my cats are weird in their consistency?
some Israel pictures
I've posted some of my Israel pictures to Picasa (edited years later to add: which is now dead, alas). A draft narrative for non-LJ distribution, and with some photos excerpted, is at: http://www.pobox.com/~cellio/israel-2006.html https://cellio.org/blog/2007/israel-trip (more durable link). The text was largely cannibalized from LJ entries; I may refine it before distributing to coworkers, family members, etc.
flower question
Someday, maybe I will be able to use an image as input to Google. In the meantime...
Dear LJ brain trust,
What is this plant?

My real questions are mostly about care and feeding, but given a name I should be able to find that. Thanks.

more Pennsic photos (mostly performances)
For my non-SCA readers, I promise to get back to the usual mix of religion, navel-gazing, and other commentary on life, the universe, and everything soon. :-)

more Pennsic pictures (out and about)
Here are some pictures of assorted sights throughout the camp -- just some random, usually-non-representative, things that caught my eye.
